3 Reasons A Long Distance Relationship Ain’t So Bad

Long distance relationships aren’t the ideal situation for anyone – but there are definitely some perks to being apart. Here are just three of those perks.

3 Reasons a Long Distance Relationship Ain’t So Bad:

1. You Learn To Communicate without the Physical

Long Distance RelationshipThere’s something to be said to being able to maintain a relationship without the physical relationship. When you are physically together, it’s okay to sit in a comfortable silence together – but when you’re sustaining a relationship via phone/skype calls, you have to be able to constantly find things to talk about with each other. It can be challenging at times, but it means that you get to know your lover on a whole new level. And it also means that you can experiment with ways to make up for the lack of physical (read: sexting!).

2. You Get to Stay in the “Honeymoon Phase”

I don’t mean that you never progress to the next level in your relationship, but you get to enjoy the anticipation that comes with missing someone. When you do get time together, you don’t take it for granted. You enjoy every minute together, and every second counts.

3. You Get to Keep Your Independence

Sure, it really sucks not to have a plus one to a party or wedding, or have to show up solo to every event you get invited to. But there are perks to being on your own too. You have all the time in the world to do what you want to do, whether it’s to focus on going to the gym, spending time with girlfriends. You get to maintain control over Netflix and eat popcorn in bed. And sure, spooning in bed can be all sunshine and rainbows, but let’s be honest – who doesn’t love to starfish?
